It is mentioned that, since 2014, the city of Piraeus put in place BlueGrowth Initiative (BGI), an innovation competition for Blue Economy, to strengthen traditional economic activities related to the maritime sector with innovative business ideas. This objective will be achieved through the development of transnational partnership, which facilitates the exchange of experience, knowledge and good practices among its members, and the implementation of joint actions on this matter of strategic importance. BG is the first-established at EU level (2014) innovation competition for maritime economy (Blue Economy), with vision the strengthening of traditional economic activities related to the maritime economy with innovative business ideas. A possibility to present the selected good practice in a national context using National URBACT Points, e.
Through the interregional exchanges, the partners expect to benefit from each other’s experiences and from good practices collection practices implemented by third-parties. Together the project partners aim to interregional transfer of experiences, knowledge, practices, both within and beyond the partnership.
